What is Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead)?

Día de Muertos is not a ‘scary’ occasion… but rather one to remember, honor, and celebrate the life of those who have passed before us. It is a remembrance of the origin and path that we all must follow and an opportunity to relive and strengthen the bond with loved ones no longer around us. That is why prayer, meditation, colorful arrangements and ornaments, food and ofrendas are part of this celebration. Because it is that: a celebration of life, death and tradition.

Culture, fantasy, and fiction!

Celebrating traditions and colorful imagery, our (not-so) spooky books tell beautiful stories on Latino culture. Count with the catrinas, chase monsters with Kid del Toro, and form a friendship with Luna oscura.

How to get involved:

There are a few unique ways to encourage your accounts to bring the holiday to life this season.

Suggest to bookstores they build an ofrenda and host a Día de los Muertos night. Customers can then bring in pictures of loved ones who have passed on and place them on the altar.

Try to make the entire event feel as authentic as possible and include sugar skulls, monarch butterflies and papel picado. Include Lil’ Libros Dia de Muertos-themed children’s books written and illustrated by Latinx authors.
